Raul Rodriguez confirms
Raul Rodriguez is coming to the Homegrown Festival! It’ll be the first time Raul’s ever come to England but he’s chomping at the bit to down Welsh ales and perform death spirals into the Barstows’ flock of sheep*.
Sorry to get all American (cue gravelly movie-man voice) but Don’t Miss Out, this is the First and Only UK Festival Appearance by the World Acro Champion. We’ve had 100% confirmation of his attendance from the man himself.
Raul’s a mellow, unassuming and instantly likeable guy. He’ll be giving a presentation in the Magic Tent on Saturday night on acro flying and the manoeuvres he’s pioneered – from the SAT to the infinite tumble and many, many more.
Excited? Oh, yes yes yes!**
What's this all about then?
Back in the mid-90s, Mike Campbell-Jones put on the Paramania Fly-Ins, which grew and grew in popularity each year. Held in the tranquility of Fforest Fields campsite, it was like paragliding's own version of Glastonbury. We wanted to recreate that special atmosphere. In 2006 we put on the first Homegrown Festival. Around 800 pilots came, flew and partied. It was a massive success, with lots of grinning faces heading home on the Sunday night.
This September sees the second Homegrown Festival. It's going to be a great weekend of flying, catching up with friends, trying out new gliders and enjoying talks, films and fantastic live bands. There's lots for kids too - with dream weaving, children's entertainers, and a bouncy castle - so bring the whole family.
